As a full-time international student, you’re allowed to work 20 hours/week and during vacations, you can work full time around 40hrs/week.
The National Minimum Wage set by the UK Government
Age: 21 -24 -> minimum £8.20 per hour
Age: 24+ minimum £8.72 per hour
(the minimum wage increases every year)
I would say an average full-time student salary is £9 (but there can be exceptions and I know students making up to £15 per hour), so your salary can be calculated as 20hrs/week * 4 = 80hrs per month 80 * 9 = £720 per month
40 hours/week*4 = 160hrs per month 160*9= £1440 per month
As an international student, you will be able to work for 8 months on a part-time basis during term-time and 4 months working full-time during holidays £720 * 8 = £5760 £1440 * 4 = £5760
You can earn at least £11,520 per year working legally in the UK as a full-time student.
Now the question will be whether you can live comfortably with this earning? The answer is YES and NO. Will discuss this further in another post where I’ll share a breakdown of all the basic expenses.
