Recently we have received questions regarding how to find scholarships for the universities that you are thinking of applying to. Yes, we believe it is a very tedious process and requires a lot of effort but obviously, it’s worth it!. In this post, I’ll be sharing some basic types of scholarships that are offered.
Types of Scholarships for International Students:
Common types of University Scholarships:
a) The most commonly offered scholarship by any university in the UK is based on academic excellence the higher your grades the better scholarship you will be offered.
b) Second most common offered scholarship is based on is excellence in any skill or extracurricular activity such as sports scholarship.
c) some of the universities also offer the chancellor scholarship that is usually based on academic and overall performance.
d) Some universities have scholarships available for specific countries and the criteria is that you should only belong to that country and sometimes don’t have high criteria of academic achievements to attain that scholarship for the resident of that particular country.
e) Full payment discount; some universities offer a discount on the full payment of the fee if paid before enrollment.
These are the scholarships offered by the government of a particular country such as;
it is offered by the UK government to high performers in academics and high performers in management roles in an organisation and is tend to be very competitive. It offers full coverage of Tuition and accommodation Expenses.
2) Common Wealth Scholarships
It is offered by the UK government to the citizens of commonwealth countries to those graduate students who have extraordinary talent and cannot afford tuition in the UK. Every year 800 of the student get this scholarship and is also very competitive.
3) HEC Pakistan.
HEC also offers scholarships on different criteria to fund foreign education and has multiple scholarship options for Pakistani students, usually, they contract with the student to return back to Pakistan and serve the government for a time period. It is always worth checking their website https://www.hec.gov.pk/…/internationalScholarships.aspx
Some private organisations or large institutions such as banks or big financial institutions offer talented or high-performing student scholarships to pursue higher education and join them later.
A lot of universities offer Bursaries to deserving International students who couldn’t afford tuition so that it could help them pursue their education. the bursary amount is usually between GBP 500- 2000. Bursary could be applied after the enrollment as well and is recommended that you apply for it after enrollment.
Hope this will help to understand and streamline the types of scholarships that you can look for according to your profile.
BEST OF LUCK!
